Urve Tamberg is actively involved with the Estonian community in Toronto. She is a Director on the Estonian House Board, and the Estonian Arts Centre. She has sung with Ööbik choir for many years, and has participated in Laulupidu. Outside the community, she has served on numerous boards, and held senior leadership roles in business, and works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to develop creative and pragmatic strategies to create successful business ventures and manage complex change, whether in start-ups or in corporations. She is the author of historical fiction set in Estonia in WWII, The Darkest Corner of the World. Continuing to enhance the cultural footprint of Estonian and Estonians both locally and globally is very important to her.

The Estonian Central Council in Canada (ECC)/Eestlaste Kesknõukogu Kanadas (EKN) is a nationally elected council founded in 1951 that furthers the interests and development of the Canadian Estonian community.
